February 9, 2012 - Matt Karatz, City of Los Angeles Deputy Mayor for Jobs and Economic Growth 
Mr. Karatz is Deputy Mayor of JObs and Economic Growth For the City of Los Angeles Mayor’s Office of Economic and Business Policy with oversight of all office initiatives and policies, including day to day liaison to City Planning Department, Department of Building and Safety, Convention Center, L.A. Inc., Film L.A., Community Redevelopment Agency, Housing Authority, Housing Department, Homeless Services Agency, Community Development, and the economic development initiatives at LA World Airports, LA Port, and LA Department of Water and Power.   

Prior to joining the City, Mr. Karatz managed the real estate investment portfolio for Avondale Investments, LLC a private investment vehicle of residential and commercial properties across Southern California.  He also was in charge of property acquisitions at Caruso Affiliated, as also KB Home working in acquistions.

Prior to entering the real estate industry, Mr. Karatz worked at ABC News in New York as an investigative journalist for the late Peter Jennings and Brian Ross.  He earned an Emmy Award for excellence in investigative journalism.

2012 Speakers Series Kick-Off
Join the BIASC/LAV Government Affairs Committee for the first committee meeting and speaker series of the year featuring Michael D. Antonovich, Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, 5th District.  This special event will take place on January 12, 2012 at TPC Valencia.  The Government Affairs Speaker series allows you the opportunity to speak with government officials in the Los Angeles area.  These small groups are designed to give you the chance for serious dialog with the decision-makers in our region.  Presentation is followed by the Government Affairs Committee meeting.
